Over the last two weekends, over 150 second class pupils celebrated their first holy communion. There were six masses and six communion receptions.
This was the first year the communion receptions took place in the new school building which was the perfect setting for two lovely mornings.
Hundreds of cups of teas and coffee were made and drank. Hundreds of sandwiches were prepared and demolished. Cupcakes, biscuits, treats and drinks were on hand as the school hall was transformed from a place for PE to a place to celebrate with flowers, balloons and bunting adorning the walls and tables.
Thank You
A huge thank you to the school and the parish for their assistance and contributions. Truda and Joan from the Junior School prepared the gorgeous flowers on both Sundays.
Ms Gallagher prepared the communion table. One of the parents from the school, the very talented Mrs Sew & Sew custom made the bunting in the school colours. Eddie was on hand to open and close up the school on both weekends, to answer questions and help move furniture. Supervalu provided the tasty cupcakes.
We had a vast amount of help from parents in the school. Over 75 parents volunteered their time on both the Saturday evenings and Sundays to help set up the hall, prepare the food, serve the tea and coffee. They dispensed hundreds of aprons, decorated the tables, manned the treats table and swept up the left over treats and all the other jobs that were needed to make the mornings such a success. A massive thank you to all, it was a brilliant team effort!
We hope all of the children and their families enjoyed their day.
