And so it dawns, the first day of school for over 150 excited and slightly apprehensive Junior Infants! Anxious Parents fretting over leaving their little ones as they begin their journey through Primary School.
First day back excitement is palpable all around St Colmcilles but no where more than Halls 3 & 4 where the Parents Association are setting up for the “Junior Infant Coffee Morning”. Tables set, chairs at the ready, tea on the boil and the coffee nicely roasting!
Each year in St Colmcilles JNS, the P.A. host a coffee morning to enable all the Junior Infant Parents to meet other Parents to get to know who is who and who is in who’s class!! It is a really nice social event. This year was no exception. Crowds of Parents, Grand Parents, Uncles, Aunts, Cousins and friends descended into the Halls for badly needed “cuppas” after dropping off their new Junior Infant to their respective classes. In some cases tissues were needed to dry a few tears and not for the kids!! The P.A. and their exceptional Volunteers worked flat out to ensure that everyone got a badly needed hot cup! Lots of chats were had and promises of playdates to be organised in the coming weeks! Mrs Ita Corduff (Principal), gave a warm welcome talk and she hoped that each child would enjoy their time at St Colmcilles School.
Then suddenly 11.50am was upon us, time for Parents to begin to queue up outside the Collection Doors in anticipation of being reunited with their little scholars. Tales of new friends and fun times all to be relayed on the walk home! Tomorrow is another day………
