The first event of the new school year took place this morning with a coffee morning for the new junior infants parents in the junior school hall. This year there are 208 junior infants. They all looked so adorable in their uniforms. You forget how small they are, so cute!
It was a huge success, there was a fantastic turnout. It was great to see so many dads there this year. Mr Boyle spoke briefly, many cups of tea and coffee were consumed and a lot of people stayed chatting until it was time to pick up their junior infant at 12.
Based on feedback from previous years, the coffee morning took place on the first day as we are always aware that many working parents are unable to make daytime events. This was the one day that most parents could attend.
I would like to say a huge thank you to the volunteers that came in to help on their first “free day” in two months and also Eddie the Junior School Caretaker, who always helps us set up and tidy up after all the school events.
To all the Junior Infant parents I hope your child really enjoyed their first day at school.
A great idea. Very well organised. Thanks.
As a grandparent who saw my twin grandchildren start school I would like to say thank you to all who helped in organising such a big day in the lives of the children and the parents especially the idea of parents meeting in hall for cup of tea and able to stay till it was time to meet their little ones at 12 o. clock A great idea Well done!!
