I was in the Senior School on Friday counting coins and I was shown some cribs that the sixth class students had made. As always the standard was extremely high and you could tell that a lot of time and effort had gone into the making of them. There was one however that for me, stood out above the rest. I was blown away by this crib and I wanted to share it with all of you. It is so creative and the message is simple yet powerful.
The sixth class student who created this crib is Oisin Byrne from Mr McGoverns’ class. The three figures to the left of the crib are Fr Peter McVerry, Sister Stan & President Higgins, all three of these people are working towards abolishing homelessness in Ireland.
The man and woman sitting outside the Georgian house are images of our people who for various reasons found themselves trying to survive on our streets.
It is a very thought provoking piece and one that stops you in your tracks and makes you think about the true meaning of Christmas Spirit. I have concluded that the true meaning of Christmas Spirit for me is compassion. What’s yours?
Wow that is a fantastic crib and one that does indeed stop you in your tracks. Brilliant stuff.
Thanks for sharing this.
