Below is a Security Update cllr Deirdre O’Donovan received from Garda Pat Tarrant regarding the parking in Coolamber Park.
Parking around Schools
Parking around Schools continues to be an issue. In particular I have received a number of complaints from residents living in Coolamber Park, Knocklyon relating to motorists who are committing a number of Motoring/ Road Traffic offences in the Estate. These motorists are by in large dropping off pupils attending St Colmcilles Primary School. The area that is causing the main concern is the last left bend in the estate which adjoins a green area and footpath. The footpath give access to St Colmcilles Primary School.
The main offences are:
- Parking causing obstruction/impeding traffic flow
- Parking on single yellow line
- Parking and blocking a residents entrance
I have also noted that parents or motorists are allowing their passengers to alight from vehicles while in traffic. A safe spot should be found and the passenger should always alight onto a footpath for safety reasons.
Motorists should at all times adhere to the Road Traffic Laws and not cause an obstruction within the estate. I have been present in the estate most recently on the 2nd of December 2015 and I regrettably had to issue a number of fines/tickets for the following:
- Parking on a single yellow line
- Parking causing obstruction/impede traffic flow
- Driving without reasonable consideration.
I will continue to provide a presence in the estate to ensure that the above offences are not being committed. I have hi-lighted in red on the attached picture the bend which I am referring to and I have hi-lighted in yellow the single yellow line. Anyone found in breach of the above offences that I have outlined above will be dealt with by way of fine/ticket.
